Comment Policy

Concerns have been raised recently that i'm censoring comments. I believe it's time to put something in writing about the actual policy.

Anyone can comment. I allow anonymous comments, do not require word verification, and will not enable moderation. That means you can say pretty much anything you want that isn't an ad and it will show up immediately on the comment page (starts with www.blogger.com...). However, the post pages, index, and archive pages have to be republished every time there's a change--I have to update the page on the server because they're externally hosted. So it might not immediately be apparent that the comment was registered. To guard against Blogger.com server errors, I recommend copying your comment before hitting "publish."
In short, it's my job to ensure that comments remain free of spam--I won't put any restrictions on your ability to post.

I also am reluctant to pretend that the comment was never posted, so I keep deleted comments up in the form of

"comment deleted
This post has been removed by the blog administrator."

This is where there are sometimes some misunderstandings. If you check the post pages, there is usually (but not always) a link in the comment's byline. That link is invariably to a spammer's profile or website. Sometimes, the comment is deleted by the author because Blogger doesn't allow editing, and the edited version posted below. In that case, "the blog administrator" in the above example is replaced by "the author." Otherwise, no comments are ever deleted. Anti-nuclear comments, questions, and challenges are always welcome, as well, and from anyone and everyone. Please feel free to comment anywhere and/or use our discussion board.

Update 7/7: I just had to delete three spams from two posts. Check them out for examples of the comment policy if you don't believe me.
